About Derrick
I am a Hunter Graduate with my Bachelor’s degree in dance. I have trained and managed a ballroom studio in Long Island while actively getting my degree. I have built students who came in knowing nothing and in less than two years won a medal at a competition. I currently teach hip hop to Pre-K in Brooklyn and also coach Latin Ballroom at a private competitive studio for children. Needless to say, I can teach any and all ages.

I’ve trained with top coaches and competed at high levels in latin ballroom styles. I’ve also worked alongside some of the most knowledgeable and skilled street dancers in the hip hop world. I aim to personalize my lesson plans to your needs and desires. Whether you’re looking for a more social approach or you want to get competitive or you just need a fun way to exercise; I can cater our lessons to your goals. I work on foundation and grooves. It’s important to feel the music before you can feel the dance.

Perfect! Derrick is the consumate professional. He has experience as a dance teacher, so he understands how to impart information and direct your movements via Zoom lessons. He will also choreograph pieces for you if you ask. First rate.
