About Lara
I am a qualified English and Drama teacher, teaching for more than 20 years in disadvantaged and marginalized schools producing excellent results. I then moved my career to the advertising industry, where I spent 3 years polishing my skills as a proofreader/copyeditor in this creative environment, working for the Vodacom Brand mainly. I also have my independent proofreading and editing school ReddWritingHood, where my focus is on academic editing of Masters dissertations and Ph.D. thesis. I amalso acommunity activistand co-ordinate the Johannesburg edition of the solidarity group,food not bombs - jozie. Ialso write,publish and perform poetry and other articlesin my spare time.

My teaching methodology is one of the Socratic methods, where the question, answer, and self-inquiry method works best. The material selected for learning purposes also serves to maintain students' interests, and mine is a subject-integrated classroom, where all subjects play into one lesson.
Another useful skill is the use of humour wherever I can together with extensive reading and critical comprehension practice.
