About Matt
I am a Physics tutor with 6 years of experience and a BSc in Applied Physics. I have taught over 200 students from GCSE through to early undergraduate Physics level. My lessons cover mechanics, electromagnetism, waves, thermodynamics, quantum physics, and nuclear physics. I am passionate about making Physics both conceptually clear and mathematically rigorous so students develop genuine understanding. My approach is patient, systematic, and always adapted to the student's examination requirements. I have helped students improve Physics grades significantly at A-Level and university level. My Physics lessons develop both physical intuition and mathematical problem-solving skill in a systematic and progressive way throughout every session. Every lesson opens with a review of key concepts and recently attempted problems to identify and address any remaining confusion before new material is introduced. Mechanics topics are developed comprehensively covering kinematics, Newton's laws, energy conservation, momentum, circular motion, and gravitation with both clear physical explanation and rigorous mathematical treatment. Electromagnetism sessions develop electric and magnetic field theory, Coulomb's law, circuit analysis, electromagnetic induction, and wave behavior through worked examples and real physical applications. Waves and optics are covered with strong physical intuition including superposition, diffraction, interference, refraction, and the electromagnetic spectrum. Quantum physics is introduced carefully with solid experimental grounding in the photoelectric effect, atomic spectra, and wave-particle duality before any mathematical formalism. Past paper questions are used consistently throughout every lesson to build examination technique alongside content knowledge. I coach students specifically on the multi-step calculation structure, unit analysis, and significant figure conventions required for full marks in Physics examinations. Structured notes and a targeted problem set are provided after every session. My goal is for every student to approach Physics with genuine conceptual understanding and reliable mathematical confidence.
