About River

I have been playing instruments since the age of 5, and have received intense training in musicianship and chamber music. I have held a leadership position in multiple national and international orchestras, and obtained my grade 8 Violin from the ABRSM at the age of 13. I received 3 As at A level, and am in my third year studying at a top tier Russell Group university.

About the lesson

I’m a confident and open teacher, always happy to go at the student’s pace, or to adapt my communication style to whatever works best for them. I’m patient and encouraging, making sure the student progresses while feeling excited, not daunted, by the process.

River has been working with me since she was 17, teaching on chamber music and music theory courses. She is very well taught herself, and this comes through in her delivery of both one-to-one and small group lessons. She is a natural musician, able to convey her enthusiasm for music and is experienced at teaching all ages from 5-adult. I recommend her unreservedly.

River’s been teaching me to play violin for a couple of months now and she’s been very good at it. Everything is explained clearly and at a pace that suits me and with a great deal of patience and enthusiasm for the instrument. Until I’d started learning with her, I had no idea I even wanted to learn the instrument, and she’s inspired me to continue with it.
