About Kester
I've been writing and using narrative to understand the world since I was a child. I want to show students how meaningful and worthwhile stories and writing can be, and help them find the joy of storytelling between the more technical criteria; English is about so much more than passing the exam, and I was raised on Star Wars and Marvel just as much as Shakespeare and Charles Dickens! I believe you can't succeed in English without a passion for not just reading and writing but also experiencing the excitement of narrative in its many forms.

I approach lessons from a narrative-first perspective. Finding the rich stories in English, fiction or not, is the key to writing fluently and effectively. My teaching style draws on a versatile background of Classics, contemporary fiction, cinema, and more to provide tailored examples of writing methods and terminology in existing works, so that students can see these techniques not just in their set texts, but also in media they are familiar with, before finally applying this knowledge to their own work.
