About Sophie
I am a passionate and experienced secondary English teacher with seven years of experience teaching both English Language and English Literature across KS3, GCSE and A-Level. I also have experience marking for AQA, giving me strong insight into exam expectations, assessment criteria and effective exam technique.
My tutoring approach is tailored to the individual needs, strengths and targets of each student. I begin by assessing a pupil’s current skill level and identifying key areas for development before creating a personalised progress plan designed to build confidence, improve attainment and develop independent analytical skills.
I pride myself on creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing confidence and challenging themselves academically. I adapt my teaching methods according to the learning style and ability of each student and have experience working across a range of educational settings, including secondary schools and private tutoring.
Sessions may focus on essay structure, textual analysis, exam technique, revision strategies, confidence building or targeted intervention in weaker areas.
Lessons are available for students in Years 7–13 and can support both English Language and English Literature. I offer flexible lesson lengths depending on the needs of the student, including intensive revision sessions during exam periods.
