- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

- Do you have a personal message for students?
Confidence in maths is one of the most important attributes you can develop. It sets you up to be able to face everyday challenges in so many areas of your future.
I am passionate about education and want to do all I can to help you reach your full academic potential. I have a son who has just taken A levels in Economics, Maths and Physics. I have been actively supporting his learning since he started at nursery. This has taught me a great deal about the challenges youngsters face in their learning at school. Using my skills and experience and through dedication, I will help you meet your challenges and learning goals.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been tutoring students in maths (KS2 to A level) for many years. My teaching experience has given me the opportunity to communicate effectively with learners of all ages. I have taught children as young as 7 (year 3) and adults who are grandparents.
During academic year 2014 -2015 as a student teacher, I:
Taught KS3 and KS4 maths to years 7 to 11 at two large comprehensive schools in Hertfordshire (one in Bushey and the other in Stanborough);
Developed understanding of strengths and needs of all pupils and deployed distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them;
Developed resources for SEN students, enabling them to engage with learning;
Took pupils teams to, and supervised activities at, Maths Challenges (Longdean School, Haberdashers' Askes's Boys School, Watford Grammar School for Girls);
Volunteer tutored at lunchtime and after-school maths clubs, helping students with KS3 to KS5.
In July 2014, during a placement at a primary school in Hendon , I mentored pupils in years 3 to 6 KS2 subjects.
During academic year 2013 -2014, as a volunteer at a large comprehensive school, I assisted teachers in lessons across the school maths curriculum from year 7 to year 13, including SEN classes.
Students I tutored gained excellent GCSE results in previous years, something I take great pride in. I am happy to give references of current and previous clients.
Before becoming a teacher, I ran an IT recruitment business in the City of London for many years. This required a wide range of interpersonal skills including communication, leadership, management, negotiation and customer services.
Before setting up in business, I was a Senior Electronics Systems/ Software engineer in the Defence and Research industries. Here, I applied my knowledge and understanding of maths and sciences to real–life applications. Whilst working as an engineer, I also taught young adults GCSE Higher Maths at an evening college for a year.
I can give students an insight into how maths is applied in the real world and I bring the benefits of my real-world experience in engineering and in business.

Raj was instrumental in me passing my QTS skills test. He was a patient and kind tutor that explained a variety of problems in a very clear way which helped to vastly improve my maths skills and my confidence! He produced a checklist to make sure each subject topic was covered, sent me plenty of material for practice and set up mock mental arithmetic tests. As a result, I passed my skills test first time (the last hurdle before starting my initial teacher training)! I couldn't have done it without him!
The thought of maths gave me butterflies (not the good kind!). I came to Raj feeling anxious about the QTS, but he provided guidance and support in how to embrace maths and enjoy it too! He has a logical approach, explores various solutions and gives the option to understand the best fit for you. Raj is patient and clear in his teaching. I gained confidence and passed first time with flying colours! I am truly thankful to Raj in helping me overcome last hurdle to become a primary school teacher!Â
Raj is an excellent tutor, with his expertise he was able to clarify and extend my daughter's understanding of her C1/C2/S1 exams. Would definitely recommend for anyone doing A level mathematics. Always reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
