I have a BA in Psychology and Biochemistry. I've tutored/mentored/TA'd for four years, in various topics ranging from environmental research to virology. Recently, I've been tutoring for the ACT with students gaining a two to five point increase from previous or diagnostic exams.

The best tool I have is sincere enthusiasm for biological sciences. My lessons are geared toward students that are able to vocalize their questions and respond well to visual representations of concepts. A typical lesson would include an introduction into the topic followed by addressing specific questions. After lecturing, I plan to facilitate an active approach to engaging with the material-- whatever that might look like to a student. For example, I have encouraged students in the past to draw an illustration to represent a physiological process and narrate the steps as they go. Throughout this process, I might ask relevant questions or prompt them to discuss further.
