I have recently graduated with a first in Mathematics from the University of Glasgow and will be perusing a Masters. I am passionate about my subject and have also enjoyed tutoring all levels from secondary to second year university level.
I believe in the growth mindset when I tutor, that is, that academic success is a result of hard work and that any student, with the right direction and motivation, can come to perform well in their subject.
Lastly, I believe that the majority of people can come to appreciate mathematics when it is taught as the creative and richly interconnected subject that it is.
I have been tutoring since 2009 where I began with high school tuition. After returning to higher education in 2014 I decided to become more involved in tuition. During my studies I have tutored 5 students, ranging from secondary level to second year university.
My most regular student went from the middle of the bottom class to the top of the class above, after achieving a 100% mark on a test after about 4 months of tuition with me.
In my final year at University Blake was exceptionally patient in helping me understand subjects I struggled with. He was not only able to understand where my difficulty in understanding lay but he was also able to explain the problem in a manor that suited my learning style.
I have known Blake for about 4 years and as long as I have known him he has tutored. Hence, I believe Blake is a efficient and creative tutor.
