About Bianca
As stated above, I have taught for two and a half years in high schools in Australia. For two years I was at the same school, St Joseph's College, Lochinvar. I taught English and LOTE (Italian). I helped my students to improve their reading, writing and language skills.
I have a Masters Degree in Teaching (Secondary). Before this, I completed an Honours Degree in English Literature, as well as a Bachelors Degree in Arts (English and Writing). I also completed a Bachelors Degree in Communications (Media Production).
I have experience in private tutoring. I tutored Year 11 and 12 Advanced English students for 7 years. The way I received more tutoring work was through word of mouth - my students were very happy with my tutoring and would recommend me to their friends/family. I am a warm, friendly and approachable person by nature, which helps when I am tutoring as I strive to make sure my students feel comfortable with me and thus able to achieve to the best of their ability.
My experience teaching in high schools has given me a wealth of new knowledge about the different ways in which students learn, and also a wealth of experience in using different teaching strategies to address the different learning needs of each student.

Hi, I am a Secondary English teacher from Australia. I have two and a half years experience teaching in high schools in NSW. I have taught Years 7 - 12 (ages 12 - 18). Before I became a high school teacher, I used to privately tutor Year 11 and 12 students in Advanced English.
I have a Masters Degree in Teaching (Secondary), a First Class Honours Degree in English Literature, a Bachelors Degree in Arts (English and Writing) and a Bachelors Degree in Communications (Media Production) all from the University of Newcastle, Australia.
My area of expertise is thus in English. My lessons would be structured around your needs as a student. Depending on what you need help with, I would set an appropriate learning goal and then structure my lesson around the attainment of this goal.
When I tutored privately, I used to specialise in helping students with their upcoming assessments, whether they were exams or hand-in assessment tasks. These all involved essay writing skills.
During my time as an English teacher, I would use such methods as scaffolding and modelled responses to assist students in extended writing.
To assist with reading comprehension, I would use literacy strategies such as making connections, monitoring, visualising, inferring, questioning and summarising.
