About Rachel
Hi! My name is Rachel, and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of California, Berkeley. I have extensive experience working with middle and high school students in both one-on-one and classroom settings, serving as both a tutor and a teaching assistant.
My main areas of expertise include a wide range of mathematics topics, from arithmetic and algebra to trigonometry and pre-calculus. I’m also happy to teach SAT Math or provide helpful test-taking tips if needed! I’m an approachable, extroverted tutor who genuinely enjoys working with students and supporting them not only academically but personally as well. Highly flexible in my teaching approach and tailor each lesson to the specific needs and learning style of every student. I am happy to work with any textbooks or materials that a student already uses, and I can also provide the textbooks, study guides, and effective study methods that helped me succeed in these subjects.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of the day’s learning objectives, which I prepare in advance. After reviewing student’s assigned homework, addressing any questions or areas of confusion, we move into new material following the planned agenda, ensuring steady progression through each concept. We end each session with a short learning log summarizing what we covered that day, along with feedback so parents can easily track the student’s progress.
Occasionally, I include short quizzes to reinforce understanding and wrap up a unit or major topic. I primarily tutor mathematics for middle and high school students, and I have extensive experience supporting this age group, especially in SAT Math preparation.
