About Farheen
I’m Farheen; I enjoy teaching and explaining maths, typically the reasoning behind why every step exists and what would happen if it didn’t. I enjoy teaching as a whole, whether it be maths, or a subject I don’t enjoy myself, teaching is enjoyable, and I’m happy to do it. I have studied different exam boards, I am happy to look through the specification for other exam boards if the student does them. I have studied AQA myself and have done edexcel papers, however I can look through OCR, EDUQAS and others if needed. I explain each step slowly, and allow the student to pause me whenever I say something that confuses them, and re-explain it until it makes sense whether it be once, or a hundred times, understanding the step is the most significant part of practice. Asking questions is the most important part of learning, asking questions is easily encouraged. The lessons will involve mainly practising weaker topics and many past papers.

I don’t teach blind memorisation, I slowly explain every step of the question, allowing the student to not memorise, but understand why each step takes place, improving both their memory and passion for the subject. I teach students of all ability, whether it be foundation or higher. If the student doesn’t understand, it can be explained from a different approach repeatedly, whether it takes one or a hundred explanations, understanding the reasoning behind each step is key to success; maths is the study of repeated things, therefore once a step is understood, it will be naturally repeated for other questions which require a similar order of working out. A lesson can last 30 minutes or a few hours, time can be chosen by the student. Lessons are typically for current year 10’s going into year 11 (GCSE level).
