I have just finished my Bachelor degree in Mathematics at the University of Strathclyde and will begin PhD in October. I tutor Mathematics to students of all ages, at different levels and enjoy a challenge! I like structuring my lesson based on the student's requirements and upcoming exams. I like to get my students thinking about the possible solutions to problems by asking them questions while building confidence in their own strengths.
I have been tutoring online for about three years now and have helped numerous students achieve their desired grades at school and/or in exams. Students always feel more confident after lessons and parents feel happy about their children's results in Maths.
I am a hard-working and determined university student, with deep interest in mathematical models and problem-solving which allow me to use my strategic abilities and logic.
BSc Hons Mathematics • University of Strathclyde • Glasgow, United Kingdom • 2014-2018
Mathematical and Statistical Computing in R Programming, Numerical Analysis, Finite Elements Method, Analysis, Calculus, Linear Algebra and Differential Equations, Mathematical Modelling, Statistics and Data Presentation, Probability and Statistical Inference, Graph Theory, Business Analysis and Technology, Newtonian Mechanics.
• Vertically Integrated Project – Systems Biology of Polarised Growth
Research project based around the hypothesis that the mathematical analysis of data collected from bacteria will deliver the same information as DNA sequencing carried out by a team of biologists. Used MATLAB to create graphics which enabled a thorough mathematical and statistical analysis of the data.
• I was awarded a Dean’s certificate for achieving a meritorious standard in my course.
• On track for first class degree.
Natural Sciences • “Andrei Saguna” National College • Brasov, Romania • 2010-2014
• I had good results in the Adolf Haimovici Applied Mathematics National Contest in 2013 and 2014.
Mathematics Tutor • Glasgow, United Kingdom • January 2016 – present
My responsibilities include aiding students who have difficulties understanding and using Mathematics as part of their school curriculum or in preparation for exams. It is a fulfilling role which enables me to use my communication skills, aptitude to explain technical concepts and mathematical algorithms, and problem solving abilities. No day is the same and each student requires a different teaching style which means I have to adapt quickly to diverse situations.
