About Emily
I have a TESOL certificate, which qualifies me to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages. I also have a BA degree in Ancient History from King’s College London and an MA in Publishing from the University of the Arts London. I will be starting a PGCE in September.

I base my teaching methodology on the humanist approach, acting as a guide or facilitator to encourage my pupils to develop independent thought in order to find the right answers. I tailor each lesson to suit the learning style of my pupils and strive to make them as engaging and motivational as possible to maximise learning. At the beginning of each lesson, I’ll share the learning objective of the lesson so my students knows exactly what they’re expected to learn. I’ll build on the students’ prior knowledge and use modelling techniques to introduce new learning. Students will be given time to practice in relevant and engaging activities, to truly embed this new learning. A final plenary at the end will allow me to assess the level of understanding and tailor future lessons accordingly.
