About Lochlann

I am an English tutor with 6 years of experience working in the ESOL, Apprenticeships, and ALN/SEND sector in the UK. I have worked across various colleges in the UK, and have worked teaching ESOL for councils across South Wales.

I am a certified teacher of English having studied and passed my Trinity CertTESOL (the gold standard in English teaching qualifications) with a distinction. Furthermore, I have studied 2 languages to fluency as an adult, so I know the process of learning a language intimately. My degree in language studies/linguistics also focused heavily on language acquisition and teaching, alongside a strong focus on linguistics, so I am well placed to support learners in this area

About the lesson

I deliver English lessons to teens and adults. Each lesson is 1 hour long and content will vary depending on your needs.

- For those learning English as a second language, my lessons are communicative, structured conversations where we decide a topic, discuss it, and I provide you with error correction, new vocabulary/structures, grammar explanations as and when they come up, and general support such as explanations with grammar, vocabulary drills, study skills sessions, etc.

- For those studying English for their essential skills/functional skills, we will focus on exam prep and reading ability, as well as punctuation and grammar as these are what you will get the most marks from in your exam. We will go through practice papers together, and I will mark them.
