About Sophie
My name is Sophie, I study Linguistics and Philosophy at UCL.
I enjoy teaching English because I believe it is unique, allowing a personal touch to be added to each idea and allowing self-expression through writing, which can make it very engaging and captivating. I enjoy analysis and the illustration of ideas and creativity, and the possibility that the wildest interpretation could yield the best essay!

I didn’t feel that I was naturally talented in English, until I worked out a method where English became scientific. I perfected an essay structure that allowed me to conceptualise my essays and threaded in the concepts and enhanced it with language until it repeatedly got full marks. I continued this method into A-level English literature and got 100% on one paper and 100% on both pieces of my coursework.
My lessons are for students in year 10 and 11 who either struggle with English or tend to lean more mathematically.
