I'm a student at the University of Leeds, studying English literature and French, and I teach primary and secondary school pupils in the above subjects. I teach my students in grammar, vocabulary and English writing and literature by making them fun and interactive for all ages, as learning languages can be tedious for some students! I'm an enthusiastic teacher and engage well with my students, who all enjoy my lessons!
I have been giving lessons part-time for 3 years now and have taught 4 regular students and a few one-time students through word of mouth. My students have ranged from the ages of 6-16 and have all done well in their school exams. I have taught students working towards their 11+, and they have all gotten into the schools they wanted, and my GCSE students have all gotten As in the subjects I teach.
My university and work experiences have taught me how to work to high standards in stressful and fast-paced situations. I always take the opportunity of the summer holidays to work and volunteer as I am highly motivated and determined; as such I have gained skills from a varied work background, including communication and social skills. I am also capable of working independently, as I am responsible, efficient and reliable. I am eager and quick to learn new skills and am not afraid of hard work and trying new things.

Full-time Sales Assistant, Office Shoes, 9 Palace Exchange, Enfield EN2 6SN
(September 2015 – October 2016)
Worked well in a team and used my experiences in fast-paced environments to my advantage here. I interacted well with customers and improved my social and communication skills, and in doing so became one of the top salespeople on the team. By having daily targets and personal targets, I was motivated to work hard and often reached my targets. I gained good insight on new fashions in shoes and fashion trends in general, which was vital in this field. Showing off my personality was key in succeeding in this job as I had to use it to become more approachable and easy to talk to in order to make sales.
Tutoring, English and French Key Stage 3 (independent work)
(Summer 2014 – Summer 2016)
Interacted well with students and developed key social skills needed to work effectively with children. Took initiative and leadership under variable teaching environments, allowing a productive and educational lesson for the student. Developed time management skills by organising and planning creative and fun activities for the lessons in advance. Allowed my personality to help run the lessons, creating an open and comfortable environment between myself and the student.
Team Member, Selvedge Magazine, 162 Archway Rd, London N6 5BB (unpaid work experience)
Shadowed a team member and worked within a team to help run the magazine and shop. Communication skills played a major role during my time at the magazine as I had to deal with customer and client needs, research for upcoming issues, editing the magazine with other editors and organising events and customer competitions. Was relied upon to carry out individual tasks, such as organising the shop, decorating the shop window, taking photos of fabrics and items for the online shop and packing and sending items to clients in a demanding environment.
Achievements and Interests:
I am part of several societies at university including the English society, French society and Yoga society and I ran several societies while at school, such as French Society, French Debating Society, Literary Society and Feminism Society. I also was a mentor in English and French to younger students at my school. I’ve achieved a grade 6 in veena (a South Indian instrument) and my diploma in South Indian singing in view of teaching, and am currently working towards my own concert in veena and singing. My interests include reading classic literature, writing poetry, drawing and travelling.
