About Ramie
I am a career mathematics educator holding a Master of Science in Mathematics Education and state teaching credentials, with 25 years of full-time classroom experience at the high school level.
Over the past two and a half decades, I have taught the entire standard secondary sequence—including Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Honors Precalculus. Having worked with thousands of students across every learning style, I have encountered every possible roadblock and misconception a math student can experience. I know not just what the textbook says, but how state standards and high school curricula sequence these topics throughout the academic year.
In addition to classroom teaching, I design curriculum tools and diagnostic assessments that help secondary students bridge knowledge gaps quickly. Parents work with me because they want the reassurance of a seasoned professional who understands the exact pressures of high school grading policies, teacher expectations, and college entrance benchmarks.

Real learning in mathematics does not happen by watching someone else solve a problem. It happens when a student learns how to think through the breakdown point on their own.
My approach is rooted in diagnostic instruction and student-led problem-solving:
Isolating Root Gaps: When a student struggles with quadratic equations or rational functions, the issue is rarely the current topic. It is almost always a gap in prerequisite algebraic intuition or factoring fluency. I pinpoint and repair that foundational gap so current classwork makes sense.
Interactive Whiteboard & Digital Ink: Sessions are structured and visual. We work side-by-side using high-resolution digital whiteboards, allowing students to annotate, test hypotheses, and build a clean set of reference notes they can keep for exam prep.
Metacognition & Error Decoders: I teach students how to analyze their own mistakes. We classify errors into conceptual gaps, misread directions, or mechanical slips. This transforms homework frustration into structured data, directly lowering test anxiety.
Standardized Test Strategy: For students preparing for the ACT or SAT Math sections, we focus on question-type recognition, calculator efficiency, and pacing disciplines that eliminate the time crunch on the final third of the test.
Every student leaves my sessions with complete clarity on their immediate homework, plus a repeatable strategy to tackle similar problems independently.
