As a Biology Laboratory Instructor, I oversaw students carry out experiments and helped by answering questions, troubleshooting experiments, and providing guidance to students to build their learning and study skills. Furthermore, I marked weekly lab reports as well as final examinations.
Previous to that, I found employment as a Casual Instructional Assistant for the Life Sciences at Vancouver Community College. During my undergraduate degree, I also tutored fellow students in biology and German, and took on the role of an English as an Additional Language (EAL) Peer Educator at Simon Fraser University, where I helped to teach English to international students.
In all of these roles, I was able to teach various aspects of the subjects, identify the needs of learners and adapt course content and delivery style to meet their needs, as well as provide feedback to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
