About Ellie
Science should not be scary. I tutored my peers when I was taking biology and chemistry in high school and most often I heard that it was too difficult to keep up with all the vocabulary and graphs. I agree. I believe that scientists and science educators should strive to make science more compressible. In fact, I found that through simplifying language and giving real life examples, whether through a hands on activity or an explanation of a connection, their understanding of the subject matter went up significantly. Staring at words is not the only way to learn about the world around you. Science surrounds all of us and learning to look for it can change your entire outlook on science as a subject.

I believe that science should be accessible to all and that often classroom settings can scare kids off with big words and complicated numbers. I strive to make science exciting and more hands on while also helping with the busy work that comes from science classes! I prefer to teach elementary and middle school students but can also tutor high schoolers!
