About Vanessa
I am 30-years old with a BA in Design Arts and currently pursuing a BS in Data Analytics. I have a background as a dance teacher, camp counselor and tutor through college. I love working with kids and getting them excited about new things. I love getting the opportunity to spark their curiosity to learn more especially if it's something that they weren't sure of before. I strive to make learning fun and to give skills that can help my students learn better in the future.

I am a visual learner so that is the place I teach from as well! I strive to get my students excited to read and write and express their passion through it.
A typical session with me starts with going over the assignment or struggle that brings us to the tutoring session. From there we work together, step-by-step to get through a better understanding.
For example, if we are struggling with spelling we will go through each word to practice but also think of fun ways to remember the spelling. Such as, Feb-RU-ary, etc.
What sets me apart is trying to find a different ways for a student to learn the concept that is best for them. Not all students learn the same and I was often one of the students left off because of that. I want to help my students succeed even if the approach maybe "unconventional" to traditional learning. Sometimes making up a funny song or visually drawing out the problem is the way to make things click.
