About Antony
I'm an ex-Apple Creative Specialist with a PhD in Acoustical Engineering and many years of experience working across sound design, music technology, composition, audio software and interactive music systems. I am also a composer, sound designer, spatial computing developer, and co-founder of We All Play Synth, an electronic music open mic night that supports people making and performing music with technology.

My approach to tutoring is practical, creative and confidence-building. I teach Logic Pro, GarageBand and songwriting through hands-on projects, helping students make music from the very first lesson rather than getting stuck in technical theory. Lessons are tailored to each student’s interests, whether they want to record vocals, make electronic music, write songs, arrange tracks, use MIDI instruments, or simply understand how to finish their ideas.
My teaching methodology combines clear step-by-step guidance with creative experimentation. I explain the fundamentals of music production in an accessible way, then apply them directly inside Logic Pro or GarageBand. Topics can include recording, editing, MIDI, software instruments, loops, arrangement, basic mixing, effects, song structure, melody, harmony, rhythm and workflow. I aim to make lessons relaxed, encouraging and enjoyable, while still giving students practical skills they can use independently.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although longer 90-minute sessions can be useful for deeper project work, songwriting sessions or more advanced production topics.
Lessons are suitable for beginners and improvers of all ages, including young people, adults, hobbyists, songwriters, producers, performers and anyone who wants to feel more confident making music on a Mac, iPad or iPhone. No prior music theory or production experience is required; the focus is on helping each student develop their own musical ideas and enjoy the process of creating.
