I like to firstly get an idea of what level the tutee is working at, and make sure we have nailed all the basics before feeling comfortable enough to move on to the higher grade subject matter. Talking through and nailing the why in maths is essential. If a student doesn’t understand why we have to use a certain formula or the reason behind a process, then it makes it difficult to ascertain, in an exam, how to break down the big questions to obtain all the marks, and replicate what I am teaching at the time, in the future.
Using past papers, examiners feedback, and all grade level specific topic questions, I guarantee building confidence in maths and giving my students the best tools to secure the top grades.
I am an architecture student at Newcastle University and have tutored numerous GCSE and A- Level students in Maths, with very successful outcomes.
Lockdown has been tough on everyone, especially students, who I have found have felt slightly abandoned and left in the lurch. If you need a quick memory refresh or you are completely lost in the world of maths, I’d love to help.
