About My Teaching Approach & Methodology
My teaching philosophy revolves around making the complex world of biological sciences tangible, engaging, and deeply conceptual. Holding an MPhil in Zoology, I move away from rote memorization and focus heavily on inquiry-based learning and visual modeling. I utilize digital diagrams, real-world case studies, and interactive software to break down intricate physiological, ecological, and biochemical processes. By connecting microscopic cellular activities or macroscopic environmental data to practical, real-world scenarios, I ensure my students build long-term retention rather than temporary exam-day memory.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Every session I conduct is structured to maximize student engagement and measurable progress. A typical 60-minute lesson follows this strategic framework:
First 10 Minutes (Recall & Connect): We begin with a brief, interactive retrieval quiz or a concept-mapping exercise based on the previous lesson to ensure foundational knowledge is solid.
Next 30 Minutes (Core Interactive Lecture): I introduce the day’s core topic using high-yield visual slides, breaking down complex terminology (such as anatomical structures or metabolic pathways) into accessible segments.
Next 15 Minutes (Guided Active Application): We transition to hands-on problem-solving. This includes analyzing real scientific data tables, interpreting biological graphs, or practicing past-paper questions under my direct guidance.
Final 5 Minutes (Reflection & Feedback): We wrap up with a quick student-led summary of the key takeaways and outline the focus areas for independent study before the next session.
