About Athena
I came to the US four years ago with absolutely no clue how to cook—I was pretty spoiled at home. But then I found that dining in restaurants was expensive and there weren’t many healthy options except salad. But as a Chinese, I like a fresh meal coming straight out of the wok/pot. I magically learned how to cook really well in just two weeks. It’s like the skill is already in me. But I will break things down for you. As long as you’ve mastered the building blocks (e.g. how to deal with different types of ingredients), you can just be creative and cook whatever you feel like eating. I mainly eat greens and seafood. And trust me, I know how to make vegetables taste really really good, and with freshness preserved. I bet you’ve never seen some of the dishes I make ‘cause you won’t even see them in Chinese restaurants. I mainly cook for myself but I can also cook for many. If you are really far from my eating culture, give me a chance and I will give you a whole new experience!

Healthy eating doesn’t have to compromise on taste! And Chinese food doesn’t have to be oily and salty. Inspired by Chinese cuisines from different regions of the country, my cooking has developed over the years that is simple to start and can evolve. Stir-fries and one-pot meals are what I specialize in. I’ll show you how to pair ingredients that work well together. I’ll teach you the hacks I find useful when preparing food. I’ll explain to you why Chinese recipes often don’t include exact amounts of ingredients, which I think is the ultimate cooking skill (“vibe cooking”) that allows you to create dishes suited to your own taste and likes!
