About Alice

I have been teaching for 5 years and have a degree in music performance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. I have provided music coaching on courses during the school holidays. I am most experienced in teaching school aged children however have taught a lot of younger children (3+) and have had a few adult students.

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have a lot of experience working with children both in a musical and non-musical environment. I have also participated in a number of outreach projects. I have been teaching privately and as a peripatetic teacher in schools since 2011. I have been playing the cello for most of my life and now spend much of my free time teaching and freelancing. I began working for Tower Hamlets in September 2016 where I teach whole class strings and woodwind, small groups and individuals.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes

- Where and with whom did you train?

Wells cathedral school 2007-2012 Penny Driver (cello) Carole Jenner-Timms (flute and piccolo) Paul Skelton (piano).
Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance 2012-2016. Joely Koos, David Cohen (cello).

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM)

- Tell me about some of your current students.

I currently have students ranging from 3 years old to 54. I believe it is very important to be as inclusive as possible. One of my current students is deaf; we overcome this using a number of tailored teaching techniques, focusing a lot on movement and internalising rhythms and melodies. I take a pupil orientated approach to all of my lessons and adjust my teaching in order for them to have the best learning experience for them. Everyone is different and I ensure that my teaching reflects this.
