About Jing Wen
I achieved four A*s (equivalent) at A-Level in Maths, Chemistry, Biology, and Economics. I then went on to study Accounting and Finance at the University of Warwick, where I ranked first in my cohort in both Year 1 and Year 2, and finished with the highest overall course average in Year 3. Because of my academic performance, I was recruited directly by the university to tutor undergraduate finance students who needed to resit their exams.
I currently tutor GCSE and A-Level students and have been doing so formally for over a year, alongside three years of informal volunteer tutoring at a primary school.
While I have not gone through UK's A Levels myself, I sat for Singapore's A Levels which is notorious for their maths difficulty.

My main aim is to help you build a solid foundation in maths so you can tackle any question with confidence. Maths really comes down to the basics. Too often, students rely entirely on their calculators without actually understanding foundational skills like factorisation. I place a strong emphasis on getting the fundamentals right first—always simplifying before doing anything else—before we shift over to using calculators.
Scoring well is also about pattern recognition and being meticulous. Every topic has typical question trends, and once you've had enough exposure and practice with common exam questions, solving them becomes second nature. At the same time, we'll work on cutting out careless mistakes that cost easy marks, such as keying things into the calculator incorrectly, rounding to the wrong decimal places or significant figures, or mixing up degrees and radians.
Ultimately, whether you love maths or hate it, my goal is to give you the shortest, most efficient way to solve problems so you can ace your exams and have time for the things you actually enjoy, like sports, arts, fashion, or entrepreneurship.
Lessons are tailored to your level: we can focus on building up the basics, or spend the time breaking down tough extension questions from school.
Lessons are typically 1 hour long, with extra sessions available leading up to important exams. I tutor students across primary school, GCSE, and A-Level, backed by over a year of formal tutoring experience and three years of volunteer teaching.
