I introduce a topic by discussing what is already known, through questioning or an activity. This is then built on with animations, video clips, paper based tasks and mini-experiments, where possible. Then to ensure learning has occurred, questioning would take place and depending on the needs of the tutee, answering practise exam questions - going through answers and giving feedback.

I am a biology tutor with a bachelors in human biology and toxicology, and a masters in the study of parasitology. Science is typically taught in an old and boring way, but I believe science should be accessible to everyone and it is time we break away from this stereotype.

I believe the best way to learn is not to just memorize processes and facts but to fully understand the mechanism behind them. By understanding biology and not just remembering it makes the subject so much more enjoyable and it makes revising for exams not seem like as much of a chore.
