Firstly, I want to see the students ability and their areas on which they need to improve on. As I am the first year group to complete the new gcse, I understand how you need to revise to be successful. I have a friendly approach to lessons and am very patient. The aim of my lessons is to make steady progress and hopefully help my student to not only progress in English, but to enjoy it too.
In terms of methods, it really varies due to the type of person in which I encounter. I had a student who had a short attention span, and so we developed a method so that he could find the lesson intriguing, and therefore the more I taught him, the more interested he was in the subject, and therefore he went from a C to an A*. Trust me when I say this - learning with me will not be boring.
Firstly I will gain an understanding of what level you're at with English and what things you specifically want to improve. As each student works differently, we can then target these areas in a way which works best. No matter what level, whether you're in primary school and need additional aid with reading or are in high school and are struggling with mock exams, I should be able to help.
I begin with a diagnostic assessment and conversation to identify areas for progress and/or misconceptions. Depending on requirements we will then follow a scheme of work either complementing directly or indirectly the pupil's schoolwork. Teaching is based on challenging texts the pupil will not have seen or on close extracts of the text they are studying.

- Classes Initially there will be an information meeting (sometimes at your home) that lasts about an hour. It gives families an opportunity to find out more about the Kumon programme and ensures that everyone is happy with what they will have to do for the student to get the best possible benefits out of their Kumon study.
Although every student is individual, I believe the best way to teach is by first explaining and then giving them something to work through themselves.
I have a unique method of teaching which accounts for all types of learning. I approach every lesson differently, for example not every lesson will be taught behind a desk, some will be outside, some will involve learning from a video or an E - Book as i believe that understanding how a student learns and giving them multiple opportunities to show their knowledge is key.
My teaching method is to allow my client to venture their own opinions and ideas but I refine these in order to turn them into A-Level standard knowledge
