I've been passionate about English literature for as long as I can remember and achieved an A grade in my Junior Certificate [GCSE equivalent] and an A1 in my Leaving Certificate [A-Level Equivalent]. I moved to Belfast and graduated from Queen's in May 2017 with a degree in English and history.
My personal goal is always to increase the successes of pupils, beyond their expectations, with lessons that are both engaging and challenging. I find through experience that practicing exam technique helps to swiftly improve a pupil's results. I make sure to discuss the needs of my new pupils carefully and aspire to build their confidence in the subject which they study.
I'm a second year undergraduate student studying Social Anthropology. However, I studied English up to A level achieving a solid A grade. My aim is working with students predominately at secondary level (GCSE and A level) but I can teach younger students if required. I normally start with a consultation with the student to see what they need help with and relevant material for each student.
I will first get an understanding of the types of learners that I am teaching and thereafer develop a strategy that will align with their interests. Creative strategies will be employed such as videos, songs as well as other fun and exciting activities.
I give lessons to a wide range of pupils, from Year 7 to 18+. I structure my lessons to the individual pupil, using their progress made so far to provide tailor-made lessons that adhere to the particular curriculum. This allows me to make sure that we pupils make tangible progress.
I am a university student in QUB, studying drama and theatre. I have completed ten GCSE's and four A levels, all grade C or above and have a passion for innovitave and dynamic teaching. I went to Assumption Grammar school where my drama teacher often asked me to create lesson plans and teach students at GCSE and A level, when she was engaged in other activities.
I am an A-level student so I do understand the stresses of school and can sympathise to a degree with students, I would prefer to tutor students at GCSE level as I gained quite a bit of experience at this level myself. I am stern when needed and lenient when needed, I am kind, passionate about this subject and willing to adapt to others needs and requirements.
All teaching has to put the student first. I'll look to identify your strengths and targets for improvement, and prepare focused, student-centred lessons to improve the level of your skills and (just as importantly) your confidence, helping you to succeed.
Lessons can vary depending on the topics - and of course the students! I usually base my methodology on the student themselves - for student's struggling with course work, we go through previous work and look to see where we can improve understanding of the material or improve the sentences themselves. For students we work best pictorially we create mind maps together and talk through the subject.
I’m currently a first year English literature student. Reading and writing has always been a major part of my life and something in which I have been proficient since primary school.
Combining motivational coaching techniques, I offer a fully engaging and personalised service. Typically, for a first session I undertake a comprehensive learning needs assessment, the results of which can be made available to the parent / guardian.
Essay plans, step by step discussion of what to cover and what's irrelevant. Will also look at grammar and punctuation. Even those who don't feel they need help can loss marks for simple mistake, I would aim to aid this.
2nd Year English Literature Student I provide detailed and methodical lessons for students catered personally to their needs. Available to tutor on a range of subject and have sufficient experience in tutoring.
My teaching method is to identify what the individual struggles the most with and focus on their weaknesses until they become strengths.
I am a 2nd year PhD student in English Literature. I have achieved great success in my academic career so far, gaining a First Class Honours in my undergraduate degree, and a Distinction in my Masters (both in English Literature). My specific areas of research/interest are in early twentieth-century women's writing.
I am a writer from Belfast who likes to tutor lessons in English literature, with an interest in Shakespearean drama, Greek tragedy, and poetry, from GCSE to A Level and beyond. I have developed analytical methods to approaching a piece of work and deconstructing its technical composition to gain a vantage point for interpretation, analysis, and engagement with the text.
I am currently studying for BA(hons) in English Language and Literature having been placed top of my year for first year. As I hope to ultimately become a secondary school teacher I am very interested in tutoring and am very patient when working with pupils.
My teaching methodology is centred around the unique needs of each individual I teach - this has been learned through the amazing tutors who have helped me to excel in the English Language, but also through years of teaching and training people I have.
An avid reader and writer, my primary intention is to awaken in my tutees a passion for the literary and dramatic works studied. I am firmly of the conviction that an appreciation of the artworks analysed will engender more nuanced critical responses of the texts at hand.
Passionate English tutor with a focus on student interaction to increase understanding. Relaxed learning environment is created to enable students to increase confidence through interaction and discussions. Syllabus based learning structure is provided with the option of general discovery and learning.
I like to make learning fun and interactive, I have worked in primary schools for 5 years and created curriculum content for an educational software company. I am patient and enjoy seeing students improve and gain in confidence. I have taught all primary subjects but specialise in English.
I use tried and trusted resources developed over my long standing career to aid pupil understanding and engagement. Moreover, I also focus on exam technique to improve performance and attainment and offer feedback which is meaningful and expansive, so that students have clear goalposts for their learning.
My teaching method is unique and tailored to each child, focusing on their weaknesses as well as continuing to improve on their strengths. I work at the pace of each individual child and incorporate their likes and interests to make each lesson engaging and interesting.
I approach each session with care and precision. First I will try and get a feel for the student- their ability and level they are working towards.
I have been passionate about teaching for many years now and love getting to know how new students work and how I can help them progress in a way that works for them. My lessons can be catered to primary school students, secondary and university students that specialize in English Literature. For primary students, this will involve both Literacy and Numeracy lessons.
If you come to me for tutoring, we will start our first session with a chat about your goals, and then we'll make a plan to get you there. We will discuss what we can realistically cover in each subsequent lesson, and set some mini-goals to meet along the way. We'll try to have fun while we work to make sure you stay engaged with the subject.
Depending on the subject, my teaching method varies. For a literature text, for example, I would go through key moments and quotes of the key characters and use colourful diagrams and memos.
