07(concealed information) - Which subject(s) do you teach? I am primarily a Piano teacher, I teach at home, at a local music school and in a studio in Gravesend. I teach all ages and abilities. I mainly teach popular music styles, including jazz, blues, funk and rock/pop music but I am classically trained and teach from both the Rockschool and ABRSM Syllabus.
- Classes The Bearsted Kumon centre is an after-school maths and English club, held at Madginford Hall on Mondays and Thursday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. The centre provides a large waiting area and a spacious car park.
My teaching method is to provide a programme of work which follows what the student is currently studying in class. I will ask them what they think their weaknesses are, as well trying to find out these weaknesses myself and then attempt to strengthen these weaknesses.
I use PowerPoints, excel spreadsheets or just pictures and words to teach.
Each lesson would be organised. I would first teach the student the information and go through it with regular examples to help the student understand what we are trying to achieve. And once the student has completely understood, I will give him questions to answer to help him refine his skills on the topic.

I structure my sessions based on an initial meeting with the student so I can understand how the student works best. This is because everyone will have a different approach, which will elicit the best response from them.

My teaching method is based on mentor-mentee connections as I always try to form a good bond with the student and then to work on the parts of the course that is troubling to them. I like to do many problem sheets and past papers as I believe the best way to learn is by tackling the type of questions that would come up.
