About Nicole
With over 20 years of experience as a Reading Specialist, I have developed a strong foundation in delivering effective literacy instruction based on the science of reading and tailored to the unique needs of students.
In my present full-time teaching role as a Reading Specialist, I successfully implement personalized learning plans for diverse groups of students in grades 3rd-5th, ensuring that each child's individual strengths and challenges are addressed. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed when provided with the right tools and guidance.

The Arnold Reading Clinic provides 1 to 1 individual, multisensory, structured, sequential, cumulative cognitive, diagnostic and prescriptive, specialized Orton-Gillingham =reading instruction.
Student tutoring sessions run a minimum of 2 lessons per week or up to 5 times per week. Please note that the more frequent the lessons are, the greater the impact on the student’s learning. These OG lessons are individually designed for the needs of your child.
This instruction includes remediation with your child’s phoneme isolation, the correct pronunciation of phonemes, blending real and nonsense words, segmenting real and nonsense words, phonological awareness, phonological memory, short-term working memory, fluency, phrasing skills, punctuation, decoding strategies, word attack, accuracy, rate, processing speed, working memory speed, phoneme-grapheme correspondence, multiple spellings, short vowel rules, digraphs, blending drills, SOS spelling, writing words, phrases, and sentences, vocabulary, prefixes, bases, suffixes, syllable types, syllable division, history of language, the structure of language, script and cursive writing, advanced writing, grammar, and Structured Word Inquiry.
Every student begins their experience at the Arnold Reading Clinic with a diagnostic reading assessment. This is provided FREE of charge and generally takes an hour to administer. Score results are comprised into a student diagnostic summary report and shared with parents.

Details
Superprof only allows me to enter hourly rates. However, I prefer 30 minute online sessions at the following rate:
30 minute online lesson: $20
(discount with 5 thirty minute sessions a week for $80)
I am flexible and can adjust these rates for special schedules or if the lesson has more than one student.
The reason I prefer 30 minute online lessons 3-5 times a week is because that is the rate in which I see most student progress. This is especially true for students that struggle to read or have trouble focusing for an extended amount of time.
The current research recommends lessons that are intensive, explicit, prescriptive, multisensory, progressive and given in “short bursts” of repetitive practice.
This lesson format is designed for students with working memory deficits (otherwise referred to as executive functioning). This is a short term recall problem that exists for many students struggling to catch up to grade level standards of reading. An example of a common occurrence of this would be the student correctly reading a word (there) on page 2 but forgetting it on page 3. Mostly, this happens even after frequent practice and effective instruction.
The research based strategies presented in my lessons are especially designed to help students with these kind of working memory problems.
My free lesson is actually a diagnostic that takes place during the first lesson. It may take more than 30 minutes to complete the diagnostic, score it, and create an individualized tutoring intervention plan. However, it will still be free and the diagnostic score results (with learning plan) are shared with the student/guardian before the official lessons begin.
