About Monae
I have been a peer tutor helping build reading fluency and comprehension skills since Middle School. I am someone who deeply believes that every human being is creative or has the potential to be, if they get out of their own way and let their inner child take the wheel.
I have led over 10 poetry workshops for beginners, have been an active writer and poet for over 10 years now, and I love connecting and collaborating with other artists.
Together we will build a safe space for your inner artist, who is also your inner child. We will build self-trust by honoring your creative talents as a responsibility, and build a community of passionate artists while doing so.

My lessons are intimate, personalized to your goals as an artist, and will have you reflecting on your place in the world. What story do you have to tell? Whose work is yours in conversation with? What legacy do you want to leave the world?
I especially am excited to teach other femmes and BIPOC poets how to write political poetry, those wanting to enter slam poetry spaces and perform at open mic nights, and those who are ready to create and commit to a writing practice.
