About Abbie

I am a qualified secondary school English teacher with a PGCE and two years of previous private tutoring experience. I currently teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with experience supporting students studying GCSE English Language and Literature. This means I have a good understanding of the curriculum, exam specifications and the skills students need to develop to achieve their target grades.
Alongside my teaching experience, I have worked with students of a range of abilities and understand that not everyone learns in the same way. I take a patient, approachable and structured approach, making sure lessons are adapted to the individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I particularly enjoy breaking down more challenging concepts, helping students understand how to approach exam questions and developing their ability to analyse texts and structure written responses.
I understand that GCSEs can be a stressful time for students, especially those who struggle with confidence or find English challenging. I aim to make tutoring a comfortable and positive experience where students can ask questions, work through mistakes and develop their skills without feeling overwhelmed. I am organised, reliable and committed to making sure each lesson has a clear purpose and helps students work towards their individual goals.

About the lesson

I offer friendly, supportive and tailored English lessons, with a particular focus on GCSE English Language and Literature. My aim is to help students build confidence, develop their skills and feel more prepared for their exams. I use clear explanations, modelling, step-by-step guidance and lots of practice to help students understand what is expected of them and how to improve their work.
I am a qualified teacher with a PGCE and have two years of previous private tutoring experience, alongside my classroom teaching experience. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to suit individual abilities, needs and goals. I particularly enjoy helping students who lack confidence or struggle with English to recognise their potential and make progress.
My lessons are suitable for secondary school students, particularly those preparing for GCSE examinations who would benefit from extra support, revision, exam technique practice or simply a confidence boost.
