A Bit About Me: I am a young tutor with eight years of experience teaching students of all levels in English and Creative Writing. I have a first class undergraduate degree in English Literature and an MSt in Creative Writing from the University of Cambridge. I am an enthusiastic teacher who keeps up with changing attitudes towards learning styles and teaching methodologies.
I have always been deeply passionate about English language and literature, I'm sure I could read before I could walk! I obviously have my favourites, but I will read and analyse every and any book put in front of me. I have written more short stories than I've had hot meals, and am currently working on my debut novel (among several other pet projects).
Although I have never personally taught a class, I have been tutoring my siblings for years and have always kept a calm and approachable manner, I believe it is important to show the student that they are not wrong, but need direction and a different approach to looking at things in order to help them make sense of the situation.
I will tutor from GCSE to undergraduate level in Creative Writing and English Literature. For philosophy and art history, I'll tutor for GCSE and A Level. I'd also tutor in Creative Writing if you're looking to start writing and you're not sure where to start or you'd like a little more academic knowledge without going for an official course or qualification.
I've been tutoring for years and am well qualified and equipped to tutor anything from reading and writing improvement to CV assistance. I am based in Cardiff however am more than happy to tutor remotely and cater to the needs of whomever I'm tutoring.
I like to approach essays by comparing them to film-making. A film much like an essay has a beginning, middle, and end and has an audience that it is trying to reach. In order to inform, persuade or entertain the audience you must make the beginning interesting, the middle engaging, and the end conclusive and concise.
I approach my teaching according to each student's needs and set out a plan for what they hope to achieve. From becoming more confident in reading and writing skills to approaching critical theories and applying them to text. I can also help to develop individual thought and how to express it in an academic style.
Anyone who needs help with grasping the concepts and techniques of the language. The method will be catered to the needs and skill level of the student and will focus on developing their understanding of the language. My lessons will be structured and you will clearly be able to see your progress.
I will give lessons to those who need it, however preferably people younger than 15. In order to teach them to the point of improvement to mine and their satisfaction I will either colour code the level that they are on(for younger or new to English students) or use h,l,a (higher, lower and average) accompanied by what level I think they are at.
Working one to one to gain the best results and progression. Lessons are tailored to individuals and are reflected upon after each session. Homework is set following on from lessons. A fun-filled approach to support the learning.
My teaching method is very much based on building confidence. English is a subject where many students do not feel confident to explore their abilities. I believe confidence comes with independence and I structure my sessions with this in mind. I believe I am there to prompt and encourage rather than instruct and direct.
MY teaching method is to get to know my pupils to understand which method is best suited to them. I like to build a rapport with pupils and make lessons interesting whilst also concentrating on content. I like lessons to be structured but with an informal nature.
Teaching is individual so I prefer to work one-to-one or in small groups. In this scenario I can meet the learners' needs. If you understand through lecturing - I will lecture, if you understand and grasp that concept better through images - I will have PowerPoints and visuals - I've even been known to use a puppet! Students determine how I teach and whatever it takes, I will do it.
I am a recent graduate, studying a Masters in English and Creative Writing. Nominated top ten poet of 2012, I am also able to tutor poetry and any other form of written expression, including academic essays. Lesson structure is adapted to student, but to inspire creativity and passion within the literary area. Lessons can be tailored to suit students of all ages and abilities.
Hi! I am a Cardiff University student studying Philosophy, an avid writer and active contributor to the University newspaper. Having obtained straight A to A* grades as GCSE, I aim to help pupils reach their goals by creating the kind of friendly, encouraging and supportive setting that was key to my learning during GCSEs.
Hi, i'm a 19 year old student studying Law at Cardiff University. I tutor lessons for those studying English GCSE and above. I aim to make my lessons exciting and engaging as I feel this is the most efficient way to learn. We will work our way through the exam specifications, focusing on areas of weakness in order to achieve your potential. Also happy to tutor first year law students.
I base my lessons on work that I have previously done before and worksheets as well as textbooks depending on the subject. Using PowerPoint is vital especially for activities that the child could participate in.
It is important to initially identify each student's individual strengths and possible weaknesses. I believe that it is important to set targets in order to overcome areas of study that may need polishing or revising to set student's up for achieving the best of their potential. In turn, we will tackle these targets set through learning methods appropriate to each individual's needs.
I adapt my approach to the individual student so work on a case by case basis, using factors such as how the student learns and their personality, as well as addressing what stage they are at (GCSE, A level) in order to tailor my technique and method.
I believe confidence to be pivotal to educational success- which is why instilling the faith of students in their own abilities sits at the forefront of my approach. My aim is to present learning as a collaborative process with an outcome dependent on passion and communication around a shared goal.

I adapt my lessons/ sessions to the individual. I like making things fun and easy to understand, especially if a pupil is uncertain on a subject/ topic. I'm very welcoming, and always am open to suggestions. I'm able to help with GCSE's and A-Level, but can do any educational level if needed.
My style of teaching is as practical as I can make it. I like to find common ground with my students and build lessons around their interests. I tailor the lessons around each child individually to cater to their needs.
I am a young, English teacher trainee with experience of teaching Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 to students aged between 11-18. I am able to give one-to-one tutoring to students who require extra support with basic literacy, and in preparation for GCSE English Language and Literature examinations.
The foundation of my teaching method is based upon expanding on the student's preliminary ideas about a certain piece of prose/ poem/ title/ question (usually from past paper questions). I spend the first 10-15 minutes guiding my students to develop a concrete sense of their own ideas.
My teaching method is fairly relaxed - our first intro session will comprise of a short assessment so I can get a sense of where the student is, and then a casual chat to establish what the student's own aims are. From there I'll establish a flexible tutoring plan that can be deviated from if the student feels like there are areas that need specific attention (e. g.
My approach is friendly and helpful, with a focus on bringing out the creativity and thought processes needed to excel at English Literature. Mind maps set the ideas flowing, and once a pupil is fluent in their thinking, I will ensure that they become fluent in their writing too.
Lessons/classes are tailored to each individual student and the course material being studied (from KS3 to GCSE/A-Level, professional qualification or degree). Lessons are structured logically and designed to be interesting and engaging while the student meets set objectives and milestones on their course. Finally, delivery can be in the student's home or workplace or at a mutually agreed venue.
I would like to first and foremost make my student feel comfortable and relaxed as possible--(chocolate may be provided). Each lesson would take an intensive dive into the text that the student is currently studying at school/ college, and we would go over literary techniques, and if the student so wishes, essay writing.
My teaching method is to read/focus on any texts/aspects of English a student may be having issues with and give feedback on how they may improve. Having studied English for four years at a higher level I understand the demands of the subject and what teachers are looking for at every level of education.
