About Toby
I am a qualified English teacher - currently freelance illustrator - who tutors on the evenings and weekends.
I specialise in English Literature, but also have ample experience in English Language and teaching catch-up literacy.
I have four years' experience in secondary education at two outstanding schools. In that time I have worked as a one-to-one English intervention tutor, a teaching assistant specialising in English, and finally as a classroom teacher. I have worked in both private and state sectors, with pupils of all abilities, teaching years seven to twelve.
I have broad interests and I feel this helps in my creative and student-centred approach to teaching. I have worked with a wide range of students, and I pride myself on my ability to connect with who I'm teaching, assess their needs and deliver lesson content that will help them progress and give them a sense of that progression.
