When I teach a topic for the first time, I call on knowledge from previous topics that the students already know so that they can see how it ties-in and relates to a bigger picture. After teaching a topic, we work questions to reinforce the concepts and I progressively provide less and less help. At the bottom line, I ensure that the student grasped the concept because it is only then that he/she can apply it to any situation. I also relate the concepts to practical and real scenarios so that they can appreciate its application. I do this for the ordinary level and advance level through to first year university level.
I studied civil engineering at the University of Guyana but had a strong affinity for math and the physical sciences from high school. With my CAPE and edexcel qualifications I tutored students at university, private high school students, an A Level class at School of the Nations, ordinary and advanced level physics at Chase's Academy and many more. Cumulatively, I have about five years of experience teaching math and physics. I also have one year experience as a physics and chemistry lab technician at my old high school.
