Past Work Experience:
I have previously worked as a waitress in a café, this improved my ability to work in a team and also understand the requirements needed in working In a restaurant. In the summer of 2017 I worked as a retail assistant within a shoe shop which furthered my experience working within a retail store. I have taken part in a work placement at St Pauls C.E Primary School, mostly working with a class of Year 2 children as a teaching assistant. This placement enabled me to learn how to better communicate with people no matter what their age and need, through carrying out lessons or just playing with the children. Furthermore in 2016 to early 2017 I worked within my school as both a prefect on the cash register in the canteen and a reading helper for younger years who struggled to read. I think both placements were extremely helpful in improving skills and abilities that would be required when working within any environment. The Prefect position allowed me to practise not only actually using a cash register, but also working within a fast-paced environment in which you need to be quick but effective in your delivery. Moreover a requirement for this position was advising the younger years on healthy food options to choose which also improved my communication skills with both the group of people whom were working alongside me in these positions, but also the customers. Working as a reading helper was also important in allowing me to gain better experience and practise in helping others and communicating clear ideas more effectively
I am someone who has been told throughout the years that I can talk to anyone, and enjoy working in a team , so feel as if I have good communication skills and always try to make people feel at ease. I also enjoy working hard and smart as I think that the details are often important when carrying out a job. Punctuality and Attendance has never been an issue in anything I have taken part in . I am someone who is eager to learn and to listen , then follow , and gain more valuable work experience.
Why I Applied for this Job:
I have applied to this job as with starting University , I want to take responsibility for my life and part of that entails working . I would be reliable and consistent as, as a student I value the importance of having a job , and the experience that it would give me.
Kind Regards, Valentina D’Amore
