As a tutor, I believe strongly in active recall and spaced repetition learning techniques, and so my methodology involves a heavy focus on questions and interactive exercises. I like a 50/50 split between teaching and interactive exercises during my lessons to ensure an all-rounded learning experience.
Having a dynamic and flexible teaching style is important to me and so I believe in using different methods to adequately cater for different students. For example I will start by understanding exactly which area(s) my student struggles in by asking them and preparing a few questions over a slightly broader spectrum than indicated. I will then move onto using a variety and mixture of visual resources (diagrams and activities either prepared by me or from text books), and assessment resources (unit questions and past paper questions compiled for specific areas of subjects).
I am currently a second year medical student at Cardiff University and I have worked as a private tutor during my first two year at university, teaching children form primary school to GCSE and A-level students, and I thoroughly enjoy my job. I have done private in person tutoring as well as online tutoring, which has allowed me to adapt my skills for various platforms. As a medical student, learning new material and testing my knowledge is a constant game that I have had much experience in since I can remember. Luckily this has allowed me to pick up many tips and tricks that can really help cement new knowledge, such a spaced repetition and active recall.
My name is Yashu Gosavi and I am a medical student at Cardiff University. Tutoring has been a part of my life since I first joined university and currently teach maths and science as well as spanish from GCSE to A-level. Learning and studying has always been a major aspect of my life and so I have only flourished in my job as a tutor, as sharing all the tips and tricks which I have gathered over the years to other students, has been something that I love and comes naturally to me.
I believe strongly in active learning methods and reviewing work regularly to correctly cement any knowledge. After much trial and error with myself as well as within my teaching, I feel I have devised and steady and effective teaching structure for children of different capabilities and levels. I hope to bring my passion and enthusiasm for learning and teaching to this platform.
