About Zaha
Hi! My name’s Zaha and I’m a second year Microbiology student at the University of Surrey, and I’m here to ensure you achieve the best grades possible. I want you to develop not only academically, but personally too, so that the learning techniques you practice whilst working with me are ones you take throughout your life.
I completed A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology and was initially supposed to study Medicine, but then COVID happened and I was given grades that did not reflect my academic performance. I want to make sure that you never feel as hopeless as I did when I had no control over what grades I would receive, because you do have the power to improve. Whether you’re working at a U and just trying to pass, or you’re an A student and want to get that A*, I am here to ensure that happens.

My teaching techniques follow the 5-50-5 rule. 5 minutes to converse with the student and ask what they feel they want to focus on during the session; 50 minutes concentrating on the task at hand where I will go through the topic and assign the student practise questions, with my assistance available at all times; then 5 minutes at the end of the session to reflect on the student’s performance and ask how they felt about the topic, what they think they could improve on. I also provide frequent exam practise questions and past papers for students to familiarise them with exam technique and the format they will be faced with in their examinations.
Following this rule, each lesson will last 1 hour.
I have over 1.5 years’ worth of tutoring experience from volunteering with a private tutor’s homework support group for almost a year during my time in secondary school and sixth form. During university, I was a nanny for eight months, with tutoring in English, Maths and Science from Key Stage 2 to GCSE levels forming a large part of my role.
