About Mark
I've worked as a professional artist and illustrator for over 20 years. I've won multiple awards, had gallery shows, created comics, made paintings both large and small and taught students from middle school to college to adults.
My strongest skills are in drawing and painting portraits and the human form. I am adept at both digital and traditional techniques and can show you how to use both or each one singularly to build your own work.
I'm a fan of comic books, zines, movies, mythology, anime, manga, storytelling, typography, anthropology and more.

I utilize both traditional and modern teaching methods. A typical day consists of open creative time with lessons personalized to what you want to learn. I can teach adults, teens and middle school students.
A typical day starts with an outline of the days activities, moves onto work time with tips and lessons on how to grow your desired skills and then live demonstrations of your specific wants and needs. I also push for experimentation, learning through happy accidents as well as teachings of basic fundamental drawing skills.
The building of these fundamental skills will give students the confidence and inspiration to create their own work. I give students the room to learn and grow at their pace while also pushing them to experiment. This helps them build confidence while also building a strong artistic foundation.
