About Emily
Hello! My name is Emily and I’m a University of Exeter graduate with a passion for English Language and Literature, and I have extensive experience helping students develop their confidence and skills in English.
Alongside tutoring, I work as a charity fundraiser in the UK, a role that requires excellent written and verbal communication, the ability to connect with people from different backgrounds, and the skill to communicate ideas clearly and effectively. This experience has strengthened my understanding of how powerful language can be and allows me to bring a practical, real-world approach to my teaching.
I have experience tutoring students aged 7–18, including those studying English as an additional language. I teach English Language and Literature from primary level through to GCSE and A Level, adapting every lesson to the student’s individual needs, learning style, and goals.
Whether a student wants to improve their grammar and writing, develop stronger essay skills, prepare for exams, analyse literature in greater depth, or simply gain confidence using English, I create engaging and supportive lessons tailored to help them succeed.
Having achieved an A* in A Level English Literature and Language, I have a strong academic foundation and a genuine enthusiasm for helping students discover their potential in English.

I understand that every student has unique goals, learning styles, and areas for improvement, so I tailor each lesson to suit their individual needs. My aim is to create engaging and supportive lessons where students can build confidence, develop their skills, and achieve their academic goals.
My lessons can range from 40 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the student’s level, objectives, and preferred pace of learning. I use a flexible approach that combines clear explanations, guided practice, discussion, and personalised feedback to help students make meaningful progress.
I have experience teaching students aged 7–18, from primary level through to GCSE and A Level. I have also supported students whose first language is not English, helping them improve their language skills, confidence, and understanding of English.
Having achieved an A* in A Level English Literature and Language, I have a strong academic foundation in English and a passion for helping students develop their reading, writing, analytical, and communication skills. In addition, my profession requires a high level of written communication, accuracy, and the ability to convey complex ideas clearly, further strengthening my English skills and my ability to support students in developing their own confidence and abilities.
