Hi there!
I'm a motivated Postgraduate economics student, hoping to get into a career in research on understanding wealth inequality and climate change. I hope to teach students at any level, but especially those who are struggling with maths in school.
In terms of my teaching method, the first thing I'd like to do would be to help the student to develop curiosity and motivation to learn the subject. I do this by drawing connections between how and where maths can be used by the student. In the past, I have taught math by relating it to detective stories, guitars and baking!
I have been giving maths lessons since my years in school, then through my undergrad in mechanical engineering, then during my first postgrad in marine engineering, during my 3 years of work as a marine engineer, and now as a postgrad student of economics. I love Mathematics and any subject where it’s used, especially Economics, and cool applications like machine learning, which I am just starting to learn. With prior experience as a mechanical engineer and now as an economics student, I am in ever more awe of maths as a subject and see the wide variety of applications of the subject in the real world.
Since school, I have been teaching my friends especially those who have been struggling to do well and in some cases pass exams. In one particular case, I have helped a friend progress from an average of 50% to 70%!
