My way of teaching something to someone is to firstly know the child capabilities to learn something. Then work on basics for the subject. Mainly start concentrating on their weak points. Regular exercises, tests, fun stuff to make the subject and student interaction more interesting.
We are looking to tutor up to Advanced Higher, or A-Level Chemistry, and looking to tutor someone who is willing to put the work into improving themselves, as these are difficult subjects. We are flexible on lesson structure, and the type of help we make available based on the individual.
My teaching method is very simple. I teach in a way the student understands best. I keep the student's interest in mind while tutoring. Money is secondary, if my student performs well than this is a reward in itself. As I mentioned earlier I am giving you 2 free classes to judge if I am a suitable tutor for you or your kids.
My teaching method in maths is based on making the student understand the significance and motivation behind the topic, clearing the concepts, how the formula is derived (which allows the student not to forget the formula/theorem). Most importantly, I teach them how to identify their own mistakes in their answer without seeking the help of others.
I am someone with a love for math and sciences. I excelled in them and understood things very easily. This understanding makes it very easy for me to explain to others how to solve problems. I have taught lessons to high school students all achieving between a 50-70 percent. by the end they achieved at least a 70 percent. The way I like to go about teaching is first breaking down an easy problem.
My first and second degrees were in Mathematics. I am currently undertaking my second masters degree in Quantitative Finance and Mathematics at Herriot-Watt university. I am keen at sharing some of the concept I have learnt with secondary school students.
Understanding concepts rather than memorizing facts is a concept I try to push in my tutoring. I prefer the method of learning things and explaining them through first principles.
I am able to give lessons in Maths and the Sciences up to GSCE level. In teaching I believe it is important to make each student feel comfortable enough to take risks and make mistakes in order for them to learn and understand the content in a way that most makes sense to them. Each student is unique and I hope to reflect this in the way I approach teaching.
I have taught mathematics of O-level standard however, I am open to teaching A-level material too. I prefer teaching individual persons to give the attention required. I will be able to customise the lessons based on the student's needs.
Like playing Lego, I tend to provide students with foundation of a subject before tailoring personalized methods to assist them to solve problems, which enables students get a better understanding of its structure and use techniques to improve their performance.
I went to school in Edinburgh and so I'm very comfortable with tutoring the scottish curriculum, especially Higher and Advanced Higher Maths. I understand that some students may just be having problems with a few specific areas or example questions and need help running through these while others may wish to go through the whole syllabus in a more structured format.
I'm a current Mathematics student at Heriot-Watt in Edinburgh. I'm understanding and work on explaining things in detail, as well as working on being able to answer exam questions well. I teach secondary school aged pupils, as well as helping prepare for GCSE and A-Level examinations.
I have gotten A grades for A-level Maths and English Literature. I am currently studying Philsophy with an emphasis on logical thinking, so am well equipped to tutor in these areas. I respond to the needs of the student, if they tell me what they need help with then I assist. I think knowledge found is more valuable than knowledge given.
I'll personalize my teaching method according to the students. Its dependent on you.
An undergraduate Edinburgh University student studying Celtic and Archaeology. Glad to help all levels of student up to (and including if you're keen) Scottish Higher level, starting at any primary level if you want some extra help getting your brain around numbers! Patient and conscientious, I'll help with whatever you find most difficult and we'll go from there.
I can explain complex concepts in a simple way using intuitive examples. I use practical approaches to teach the most abstract concepts. My primary goal of teaching is to create genuine interest for the subject by making the fundamentals crystal clear. I believe there is no alternative to hard work - and I'll put all effort for my students to thrive.
