When teaching analysing literature, I prefer to use a creative brainstorming technique where we can talk about ideas an how we may formulate them into essay form. To check essays, I believe that practice makes perfect, as it did with me, and so checking over the essay and making amendments and remembering synonyms to embellish the work is my main technique there.
Every session I have, I plan for at least 1 hour before-hand to tailor my teaching with how my students learn, their strengths and weaknesses and also their interests (to keep the sessions engaging).
