In the past I have taught private lessons to students at GCSE level, and in these lessons my aim is not to revise what the student has gone over in school lessons; instead I aim to develop the student's understanding of the topic in general by exploring other ways of looking at it, or showing them new ways to learn about an area they may be struggling. A big part of my lessons in all subjects is also to develop a student's problem-solving and analytical skills by introducing them to unfamiliar topics and allowing them the opportunity to make new discoveries by themselves; I believe this is the best way to help a student develop not just in the subject itself, but also to develop techniques for approaching new subjects and problems effectively.
I am a first-year Mathematics and Statistics student at the University of Warwick, and I have been teaching mathematics for five years. I have been both a private tutor and taught in classrooms as a teaching assistant, most recently on the 7+ course at King's College London. I took AS- and A-Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science at King's College London Mathematics School in Lambeth. I usually teach students at GCSE level, but I also have experience with the A-Level curriculum and plenty of extra-curricular/recreational mathematics and can teach in these areas too. In terms of Computer Science, I am familiar with Python, Java, R, MATLAB, and LaTeX, as well as all the elements of the A-Level curriculum.
