I believe that, as well as passion for playing, the essentials of piano playing are to have refined playing techniques which is why I like to develop that through extensive scales practice in order to warm up the fingers, with the correct posture and such. Having efficient practice methods is also crucial to properly learning the pieces. After tackling these essentials, I feel it's important to develop the expression in playing that fits to the character of each piece which must be taught in a personable way to every student. For singing, I believe that the proper breathing technique is essential in maintaining the core strength to sing easy and challenging passages. It is also crucial to know the singing range, which is different for every person and can vary from bass to soprano; it allows the singer to feel comfortable and perform to the best of their ability while staying in the limits of our vocal cords. It is also important to find the right style of singing for every person, whether it be jazz, classical or whatever they may like.

- Karen is a pleasure to teach; she is full of passion, enthusiasm and has a lovely voice as well! :) She has quite a thorough understanding of the correct singing techniques and all other realms of singing itself, which I'm sure has been aided by her immense professional experience and diligence. I look forward to our following lessonsMasarra's response :
