About Javier

I am a classically trained chef from Mexico City with a diploma from Le Cordon Bleu San Francisco and over a decade of professional experience. My journey began as a line cook in high-end Bay Area restaurants, continued through years with top catering companies, and expanded into working as a professional chef. I bring precision and creativity to the kitchen, teaching students not only how to cook, but how to think like a chef and bring out the best in every ingredient.

About the lesson

My lessons blend professional technique with creativity, drawing from ten years of culinary experience in fine dining, catering, and personal chef work. Trained at Le Cordon Bleu, I teach classic French foundations alongside practical, modern skills so you can cook confidently at any level.

Chef Javier – Private Cooking Lessons (Oakland & Bay Area)
Introductory Session

First hour free (normally $100/hr)
A relaxed introduction where we assess your kitchen, talk menu preferences, explore your equipment, and cook something together so you can sample my teaching style.
Minimum booking: 3 hours for full lessons.

Standard Private Lessons

$100/hr (3-hour minimum 2 people - $50/hr extra per extra person - 6 max)
Personalized, in-home cooking lessons for individuals, couples, or small groups. Includes:

Menu planning & shopping list

Hands-on cooking with professional techniques, safety first.

Plating & presentation guidance

6-Hour Gift Lesson (for one or two people): $500
Includes 30min free video consultation for menu planning, shopping list creation, as well as hands-on cooking, plating, and a simple optional dessert.

Repeat/Loyal Clients: $250 (per 3-hour gift session)

Dessert or wine-pairing course: +$100

Travel & Equipment Surcharges

$25 travel fee for locations 10+ miles from Lake Merritt, Oakland
