My teaching technique is based basically on Method Acting and practises with a mixture of Lee strasberg and Meisner techniques... I believe in the power of warming up & relaxation before any acting exercise before a monologue work, so in order to ease my students I always add an extra 1 hour to my classes for free.
My methodology is hands-on and transparent. We utilise conversation in a safe space to discuss progress and challenges. I am well-versed in Linklater voice technique, Laban movement and have some Alexander technique experience. I utilise this along with Stanislavsky and Michael Chekhov acting techniques to give my students a wide variety of tools with which to grow.
I start by getting to know you better: your aims and your theatre background and then I help you reach your goals. I can teach you vocal and physical warm-ups and different methods of acting (Stanislavski, Chekhov, Meisner, Strasberg, Practical Aesthetics, Laban). The aim is to build your own method for you to become an autonomous actor.

Hello, my name is Tommy and I'm an experienced and passionate tutor, specialising in EFL, 11+, Acting and Elocution/Accent Reduction.
I personalise my approach to suit my students individual need. I recently did some movement direction and text work on a fringe production of Medea. I’ve taken students one on one and in small groups and am passionate, and ready to adapt to any kind of special requests or situations. I believe communication is key and want to tailor and develop our work together as we go.
I plan my structure carefully starting with warn ups before going straight into our topic. I like to include practical demonstrations to keep the student engaged. I also encourage the student to look deeply into the text and respond to the objective in their own interpretation. As a tutor it is important to be a role model to give them inspiration.
The basis of my approach is realism in acting. I work with you to help bring out truth and honesty in your performance, whether intended for the screen or stage. My specialisation is character work. Having trained as a psychologist, I apply my unique background and formal experience to understand the role or character you are portraying.
Sessions are tailor made to suit each student/client's needs. Many people focus on their approach to Shakespeare and how to demystify the language, others work from a more physical approach to text. Some we focus on issues of confidence and belief.
The way I teach is through personal experience things that have worked for me and things i have learnt along the way that will hopefully help others.
