I have a PGCE as well as a Bachelor's Degree. I teach anyone (age 10+) who wants to learn and is willing to work to achieve their goals. I generally teach at KS3 and GCSE level for both Maths and English Language, but also cover Functional Skills E1-L2. I tailor sessions not just to fit in with a particular curriculum, but to encourage students to achieve their goals.
I am available to provide study support to secondary level all the way up to undergraduate level students. This includes help with approaching homework or assignments, managing workloads, and understanding complex areas. My facilitation work involves listening and understanding, so my teaching is based on starting from where you are, and working together towards a shared goal.
I can give English Language lessons to those taking GCSE English Language, IELTS and Functional Skills English. If there are other equivalent qualifications people are sitting, I am happy to tutor those provided they cover similar content to GCSE. I will discuss on an individual basis how best to tutor as everyone has a preferred learning style.
I have spent over fifteen years teaching at all levels in UK prisons, during which time I have been awarded a Masters in Education and a PhD for my thesis that was concerned with my experience of teaching creatively within this context. My teaching methodology is consistent with my research interests, which aims to find creative ways of learning that suit the people I am working with.
I’m currently wanting to teach at a beginner level of British Sign Language taster courses as in groups or One2One
